Mesh banner calculator

How many m² of mesh banner for a façade or scaffolding? Enter the size and compare seams, roll length and grommets on 110–500 cm rolls.

Print type

Print type

Weights from our product pages; ask our branch for current stock.

Sizes

Enter finished (visible) sizes. Values are read as cm; you can also type “3 m”, “3.5m” or “3000 mm”.

    Roll and finishing

Automatic picks the stock width with the fewest seams and least roll waste.

    Finishing

Allowance folded and welded on each edge.

Material folded for a pole; 0 = no pocket. No intermediate grommets on a pocketed edge.

Always placed at the corners, then spread along the edges by spacing.

50 cm is common; 30–40 cm in windy locations.

    Perimeter + 10% for tying.

    Advanced settings

    For cutting and edge trimming.

    Overlap of strips welded together.

Leave on if the artwork direction does not matter; the job can lie across the roll and print without seams.

Enter the width and height of at least one job.

    Preset on this page

The tool opens with mesh banner with liner 350 g and 600 × 400 cm. It compares the six stock widths: 110, 210, 250, 320, 420 and 500 cm (50 m rolls). Hems are 3 cm, grommet spacing 50 cm and rotation is allowed.

    Example: 6 × 4 m mesh

Net area 24 m²; gross size with hems 606 × 406 cm.

    • 420 cm roll: the 406 cm edge fits across the roll, so the job prints seamless: about 6.36 m of roll and 26.7 m² of material. The tool recommends this width.
    • 500 cm roll: also seamless, but with more offcut: about 31.8 m².
    • 320 cm roll: two strips and 1 seam: about 8.53 m of roll and 27.3 m² of material. Grommets: 40 at 50 cm, 50 at 40 cm.

Mesh widths and weight from the Asta Reklam stock list (AstaFlow, October 2026). Wind load is an engineering calculation; this tool gives material quantities only.

    How is it calculated?

The tool adds hem and pocket allowances to each finished size, lays the job on the roll width and compares the result for every stock roll width.

    1. Print area

Net m² = width × height × quantity. Adding hems, pockets and waste gives the area with allowances.

    2. Strips and seams

If the job does not fit the roll width it is split: strips = ⌈(width − overlap) ÷ (roll width − overlap)⌉, seams = strips − 1.

    3. Grommets

Each edge has ⌈edge ÷ spacing⌉ gaps; including the four corners the total ≈ perimeter ÷ spacing, rounded up.

    4. Rope and rolls

Rope = perimeter × 1.1. Rolls = total length ÷ roll length, rounded up.

    Frequently asked questions

When should I use mesh banner?

On building façades, scaffolding wraps and large wind-exposed surfaces. The perforations let part of the wind through and reduce the load on the structure.

Which widths does mesh come in?

Asta stocks 350 g mesh in 1.10, 2.10, 2.50, 3.20, 4.20 and 5.00 m widths on 50 m rolls. Jobs wider than the roll are printed in strips and welded; a wider roll means fewer seams but often more offcut. The tool compares every width.

    What grommet spacing for mesh?

Although wind load is lower, 30–40 cm is recommended on large surfaces, with reinforcement at corners and seams.
