Frequently asked questions
What power supply does LED strip need?
Multiply metres by W/m for total power and multiply by 1.25. For example, 10 m of 4.8 W/m strip is 48 W; 48 × 1.25 = 60 W. 10 m of 14.4 W/m strip needs 180 W, so a 200 W unit is chosen. The LED calculator does this for you.
Where can LED strip be cut?
Only at the scissor-marked points. On 12 V strips this is usually at the end of each 3-LED group, about every 5 cm on 60 LEDs/m strip.
Why does a long strip get dimmer?
If a strip is fed from one end over a long run, voltage drops and the far end gets dimmer. At 12 V, feed runs longer than about 5 m from several points; use IP65 or higher strip outdoors.
