What Is Mesh (Perforated) Banner? Which Weight?

Mesh banner is a perforated PVC print material that lets wind pass through. Uses, the 350 g protected mesh and roll widths explained.

Mesh banner (also called perforated banner or mesh vinyl) is a PVC-coated print material with small holes woven through the surface. The holes let part of the wind pass, so large prints do not act like a sail. It is mainly used outdoors on large surfaces.

Where is it used?

  • Building wraps and facade prints
  • Scaffolding and construction site covers
  • Project and real-estate sales boards
  • Fences, car parks and stadium surrounds
  • Totems and very large posters

Weight and roll widths

Our stocked mesh is 350 g/m² protected mesh. Weight is the mass of one square metre, so 100 m² weighs about 35 kg. Rolls are 50 m long:

Roll width Roll area
1.10 m 55 m²
2.10 m 105 m²
2.50 m 125 m²
3.20 m 160 m²
4.20 m 210 m²
5.00 m 250 m²

Printing and sizing

Choose the roll width that fits your print width plus hem allowance. Example: for a 12 m × 3 m facade, a 3.20 m roll covers the height with 10 cm hems on each side, and the print needs 12 × 3.20 = 38.4 m² of material. If the print is wider than the roll, seams are needed. Use the print calculator for seams, hems and eyelets. Mesh accepts solvent, eco-solvent, latex and UV printing. For sizes above 320 cm, welded joints are recommended. Ready-made scenario: mesh banner calculator.

Fine text and thin lines are partly lost through the holes, so use bold artwork. Mesh is generally not chosen for lightboxes, because light scatters through the holes.

FAQ

How do I calculate mesh banner square metres?

Multiply print width by height and add hem allowance. For 12 × 3 m with hems, about 12.2 × 3.2 m ≈ 39 m².

Does mesh banner stop water?

No. The holes let wind and water partly pass, so it is not for waterproof covers.

Which printers can print on mesh?

Solvent, eco-solvent, latex and UV printers. Test your settings first.
