Overlap between strips when a panel wider than the roll is split. Default 2 cm.

Vinyl for commercial vehicle wraps

Vans, box trucks and minibuses are the most visible advertising space for many companies, and the same design is often applied to several vehicles. This page opens with a short panel van, full body and printable cast vinyl: about 28.3 metres of 152 cm roll plus the same length of laminate.

Method

  1. Sides, cab front, roof, rear doors and bumpers are taken at net size, about 25.1 m².
  2. A 5 cm edge allowance is added to every edge.
  3. The van side (about 150 cm plus allowance) does not fit a 152 cm roll, so it is split into two strips with a 2 cm overlap, shown as “1/2, 2/2” in the layout.
  4. Strips are placed along the roll (about 23.6 m without waste) and 20% waste is added.

Switch to the long van class or enter your own size with “Custom size”. For door logos or side ads only, untick full body and enter ad area rows.

Fleet jobs and the same lot

For several vehicles with the same design, order the total in one order and from the same lot; whiteness and gloss can differ between lots. Add each vehicle to the basket and request one quote.

Source: class sizes are estimated from catalogue dimensions of sample vans; the result is in line with the 23–30 m range of international van wrap guides. The result is an approximate estimate.

Frequently asked questions

How much vinyl does a full panel van wrap need?

A short panel van needs about 28.3 metres of 152 cm roll without windows, a long high-roof van about 31.9 metres. Both include a 20% waste allowance.

How much for the sides and rear only?

Both sides and the rear doors of a short panel van need about 16.7 metres of 152 cm roll with a 15% waste allowance. For a known ad size select “Ad area” and enter width, height and quantity.

Why is there a seam on the side of a van?

The side of a van is taller than the roll width. The tool splits it into two strips with a 2 cm overlap. Placing the seam on a line or colour change in the design hides it.

How much more with a 137 cm roll?

For a short panel van full wrap the length rises from 28.3 to 29.7 metres because more panels are split. A 152 cm roll is recommended for fewer seams.

Can I add one way vision to the rear door windows?

Yes. Select “Rear windows” and the perforated film is calculated as a separate item. The windscreen and front side windows are not included.
