Frequently asked questions
How many amps for an outdoor sign?
Find the total LED power (modules × module wattage, or metres × W/m), multiply by 1.25 and pick the rating that covers it. For example, 30 m of 14.4 W/m strip is 432 W; 432 × 1.25 = 540 W, so a 600 W (50 A) power supply is enough. The LED calculator does this for you.
What does IP67 mean?
An IP67 power supply is fully dust-tight and withstands short immersion in water. It is used on outdoor signs exposed to rain; cable entries and connections must still be sealed.
One power supply or several on a large sign?
If the required power exceeds the largest rating or the runs are long, the load is split across several units. Keep each one below 80% of its capacity; placing them close to the LED runs reduces voltage drop.
